Just bear in mind that we are awaiting details of potential fines from mis-selling of motor finance schemes, although it has been stated that sufficient reserves have been set aside to cover the suspected liabilities (hopefully that proves to be the case):

I'm a long term holder of Investec, my view being that it is a dynamic company with a good business model...the attractive yield is the icing on the cake; but please don't take that as a recommendation of any sort, it's just my own thoughts.

I've just had a closer look at the current situation re possible inclusion, which unfortunately doesn't suggest INVP will make the cut as things stand. The way it works is that once certain criteria around free-float of shares and what's called the 'public hands test' have been met (along with some financial adequacy tests), it is simply that in order to be promoted to the FTSE 100 the company has to rank at 90 or above in terms of total market cap. At the moment, INVP rank at about 96th place; if everything stayed as is, they'd need to have a market cap of ~£4.4BN to make the cut vs their current £3.7BN. Doing some basic calcs suggests to me that they'd need to reach ~668p/shr to see the mkt cap hit £4.4BN.

Apologies, I should have looked more closely before posting previously but I was in a bit of a rush at the time. I should state that I'm not, nor have ever been an analyst, but the above is as a result of looking at the data freely available on the LSE website...obviously do your own research before acting on anything I've said there, as it could be factually inaccurate.

It's the market cap that you need to look at, currently sitting in 3rd place in FTSE 250, so a likely candidate at the next rebalance if things stay like this. Key dates are Dec 3rd for calculation/announcement, Dec 19th for actioning.

It's share option exercising...sell sufficient to take up the balance (costs of transaction plus likely tax liability), happens once a year around final dividend dates.
