Secret - colchicine does its anti inflammatory work by how it interacts with white blood cells. Ibuprofen anti inflammatory work is via a different pathway (COX enzymes if you want to know)

As mad as it sounds a £140 drug that shows little benefit can be rejected for a drug that costs thousands more that demonstrates great benefit. This happens all the time in economic modeling. I suspect the expense of long covid (carers and reduced quality of life) will also be factored in ie a drug that reduces this effect and possibly makes the person economically active or not requiring expensive state care will be a cost saver and more than pay for itself

ORG30- I have a post grad in health economics. SNG01 will pass the cost effective threshold in a flash if its benefit outway its costs. 2k in most EU, UK and the US, Japan, Canada and Australia will be more cost effective than other ITU treatment and seemingly better benefit (to be determined by phase 3). Countries outside of these areas will no doubt pay a different price. But that happens all the time in pharma.

1. Does not own ifnb -No they don't but they do have a patent on all of IFn but they do significantly own beta-1a for use in nebs as acknowledged by the French study you seem so fond of.
2. Does not own the nebuliser -Pfizer don't own needles or pumps but doesn't stop them from using injections. For clarity SNG have a partnership with aerogen who are a big nebulizer manufacturer.
3. Was not the first one to do nebulised ifnb- Possibly but are the first to use IFN beta 1a and more importantly are the first to enter phase 3 registrational trials. If positive they get a license then others will have to go head to head with it. Tell me who will do that?
4. Others are doing it as we speak-Any in phase 3 using IFN in a neb or using beta 1a? if so SNG lawyers should be told?

SCINV-These off label drugs are still expensive. Agencies such as NICE and private insurers will not reimburse you for a drug if there is a licensed alternative. Also a Dr is liable for using off label drugs and can be sued if something goes wrong in a patient that is attributable to the drug. Side effects occur all the time....

Scinv- I already told you this fact at the weekend. Once a drug is licensed after a registrational phase 3 trial (with FDA & EMA, MHRA) doctors are legally bound to use a licensed version rather than an unlicensed one. Do not also forget that SNG001 is not an irritant to the lungs either unlike the off the shelf unlicensed in anything other than MS and HEP C as an IV drug....

Dumbpunter-The phase 2 trial was good enough for Fastrack FDA designation. As I'm sure you're aware they don't hand these out like sweets. There will be analysis every 2 weeks once trial is underway (who knows it may have already got this stage...). Once/If it passes phase 3 its registered with FDA and EMA then the fun begins...

MacTheKnife1966-I concur totally with your comment. To add to this. There are a large number of people who will be on long term steroids for asthma, COPD and autoimmune conditions who will have suppressed interferon also. This will bump the numbers considerably.
