UK lawmakers start inquiry into TalkTalk hack

LONDON, Nov 4 (Reuters) - British lawmakers will hold aninquiry into the circumstances surrounding a cyber attack ontelecoms firm TalkTalk, which was initially thought tohave put the private details of over 4 million customers atrisk.

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee said on Wednesdaythat they were concerned about how companies store and securecustomer information online and wanted to investigate therobustness of measures put in place by telecoms and internetcompanies.

British police on Tuesday made a fourth arrest in connectionwith the attack on TalkTalk in October, which the company saidhad leaked the bank details of more than 20,000 customers, fewerthan first thought.

The committee said in a statement it expected to hearevidence later this month. (Reporting by Sarah Young; editing by Kate Holton)
