LONDON (Alliance News) - Oil major Royal Dutch Shell PLC on Thursday said it has promoted the executive vice president of its Deepwater operations to the new head of its Upstream business.
Wael Sawan, who has worked with Shell since 1997, will take up the role on July 1.
He replaces long-serving Andy Brown, who will leave his position on September 30 after 35 years at Shell.
Chief Executive Ben van Beurden said: "I am grateful to Andy for his strong leadership of the Upstream business, particularly having improved business performance during the recent years of low oil price.
"Through his disciplined focus on efficiency, portfolio optimization, safety and talent development he leaves our Upstream business fit for the future."
Shell 'A' shares were down 0.7% Thursday at 2,315.00 pence, and 'B' shares were also 0.7% lower at 2,334.50p.
