SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: STV series renewed; LSL profit slumps

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Wednesday.

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

STV Group PLC, up 3.7% at 298.04 pence, 12-month range 246.00p-385.00p. The company says it has secured the recommission of quiz show Bridge of Lies. A celebrity series will move to "primetime" while the regular series will air during daytime on the BBC. STV Group owns the STV television channel, which operates two licences in the ITV television network in the UK. London-listed ITV PLC operates the remaining licences.

Rank Group PLC, up 2.4% at 94.79 pence, 12-month range 78.10p-187.80p. The gambling firm rises in a positive read-across from peers in Asia and New York on a pair of boosts for the sector. Bloomberg on Wednesday reported China is to resume quarantine-free travel with gambling hub Macau. In the US, the state of Massachusetts is edging closer to passing sports betting legislations. Sports betting firm DraftKings Inc said it is "hopeful" of a positive outcome. Its stock surged 8.9% on Tuesday in New York. Peer Penn National Gaming Inc climbed 4.8%. In Hong Kong, Wynn Macau Ltd rose 1.6% on Wednesday and Sands China Ltd added 3.3%. Ladbrokes owner Entain PLC rise 2.8%, among the best FTSE 100 performers.

LSL Property Services PLC, down 2.2% at 316.83p, 12-month range 307.00p-485.00p. The Newcastle-based estate agency reports a decline in half-year earnings. Revenue falls 3.4% to GBP160.9 million from GBP166.5 million a year earlier. Pretax profit slumps 71% to GBP7.4 million from GBP25.5 million. LSL maintain its 4.0p per share payout. The stock has fallen roughly 30% over the 12 months, having more than doubled in the 12 months to August 2021. Shares in the Your Move estate agency owner have weakened amid fears the rampant UK property market is cooling.
