SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: DFS up as Steve Johnson promoted to chair

Mon, 12th Sep 2022 10:59

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Monday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

VPC Speciality Lending Investments PLC, up 5.9% at 80.46 pence, 12-month range 74p-98.2p. Metage Capital Ltd and Staude Capital Ltd, shareholders in VPC, say they believe there is "strong and widespread support from independent shareholders" for the introduction of a periodic 100% realisation opportunity, via a run-off share class. The first of these realisation elections should replace the 2023 tender proposal. "By diverting income and capital payments into a realisation and continuation pool, exiting shareholders cause no harm to those shareholders who remain invested. In contrast, generating the cash required to meet the 2023 Tender Opportunity could leave the remaining portfolio less liquid and with greater concentration to non-income paying equity investments," they say.

----------

DFS Furniture PLC, up 4.4% at 138.82p, 12-month range 115p-287.23p. The sofa seller says Chair Ian Durant will retire at the conclusion of its November annual general meeting. Durant will leave on November 4 and he will be succeeded by Steve Johnson, who has been part of its board since December 2018. "He has considerable retail experience having previously held several senior roles with major UK retailers, starting his career with Asda and most recently Matalan," DFS notes.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Great Southern Copper PLC, down 13% at 3.7p, 12-month range 2.21p-5.20p. Says first five holes of its scout diamond drilling programme at its San Lorenzo project have been successfully completed. "The scout drilling program at San Lorenzo has confirmed the occurrence of sulphide copper hosted in sheeted vein systems which validates our strategy to focus our efforts here. This is a significant milestone for GSC and the project," says Chief Executive Sam Garrett.
