Avon Protection PLC, up 8.4% at 2,087.51 pence, 12-month range 1,725.00p-4,650.00p. The protective equipment maker says the US army has extended its contract to develop and supply head protection equipment. This is the first of two one-year extensions the US Defense Logistics Agency could grant Wiltshire-based Avon. The extension gives the contract a maturity date of September 22 2022 with a minimum order value of USD19 million.

CC Japan Income and Growth Trust PLC, up 3.3% at 157.00p, 12-month range 117.00p-158.50p. Fidelity Japan Trust PLC up 3.1% at 263.98p, 195.50p-268.48p. The Japan-focused investment trusts were tracking a sharp rise in Japanese equity markets. The Nikkei 225 index closed up 2.1% on Friday, reopening after being closed for a holiday on Thursday.

Gresham Technologies PLC, up 1.5% at 370.0p, 12-month range 108.00p-179.00p. The software company says a major contract extension from its largest customer has boosted its confidence in meeting its full-year expectations. Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd has agreed to renew its contracts and increase its spending on Gresham software and services, the company said. Highlights the renewed ANZ contracts are set to boost revenue for its Clareti platform by 35% to AUD14 million. Clareti provides businesses with connectivity, data migration and integration services.
