SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: CLIG rises on special dividend

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Wednesday.

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Devro PLC, up 4.5% at 211.00 pence, 12-month range 62.5p-384.1p. Expects 2021 operating profit in line with forecasts and earnings per share "modestly ahead" of consensus of 16.9p due to a one-off tax benefit from change in the UK corporate tax rate. "Revenue growth for the full year was encouraging with positive developments in volume, price and mix resulting in strong performances in both mature and emerging markets," the sausage casings maker says.

City of London Investment Group PLC, 12-month range 440p-579.9p. Declares interim dividend of 11p per share and also special payout of 13.5p. Expects profit before amortisation and taxation for half-year to December 31 to be GBP15.5 million, up from GBP9.9 million a year ago.

JPMorgan Japan Small Cap Group & Income, down 5.5% at 400.08p, 12-month range 392p-569.88p. The Japan-focused investor tracks market performance in Tokyo on Wednesday, with Nikkei 225 index tumbling 2.8%. "Investor sentiment in Asian Pacific markets has recently dipped, as investors remain cautious in the aftermath of yesterday's bloodbath in American stock markets," says AvaTrade chief market analyst Naeem Aslam. London-listed peer Fidelity Japan falls 3.2%.
