Seeing Machines launches partnership with AI firm Ambrella

Thu, 06th Jan 2022 11:52

(Sharecast News) - Driver monitoring technology company Seeing Machines announced a collaboration with artificial intelligence (AI) silicon company Ambarella on Thursday, to bring integrated advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and occupant and driver monitoring system (OMS and DMS) products to market.
The AIM-traded firm said the technology combination would bring its OMS and DMS systems to Ambarella's 'CV2x CVflow' family of AI perception systems-on-chip (SoCs).

It said the agreement would be the start of a strategic relationship, which would see the two companies combine their skills, products, intellectual property and experience in the domain of embedding AI vision algorithms to deliver best-in-class driver and occupant monitoring system solutions.

"The contextual information that can be gathered with the fusion of inward and outward-facing sensing is an important area for us as we seek to advance our safety focused technology solutions," said Seeing Machines chief executive officer Paul McGlone.

"Ambarella has made significant advances in forward-facing sensing, with its recent Oculii radar technology acquisition and its collaborations in the algorithm space, to make this a really interesting opportunity for Seeing Machines."

McGlone said the Ambarella reference design platform, targeting the headliner location, was a "key integration point" for DMS and OMS technology in both the processing and sensor space.

"We are excited to work towards offering our e-DME targeting Ambarella's silicon and to also work closely on the fusion of our technology with companies focusing on external vehicle sensing."

At 1131 GMT, shares in Seeing Machines were up 1.62% at 11.3p.
