ROC B5 well runs into problems

Tue, 23rd Jun 2009 09:09
ROC Oil has suspended work on the Basker-5 well work-over in Australia and moved the Ocean Patrio rig to the Basker-3 well work-over.The Basker-5 (B5) work-over programme was designed to isolate water production within the B5 well through the installation of a cement plug to isolate the lower reservoir sands. Data acquired during work on the well indicates a more complex combination of water and gas flowing within the well, prompting the suspension of work on the well. As a result the oil acceleration benefits from B5 which, prior to commencement of the programme, were assessed to be approximately 800 barrels of oil per day (of which ROC’s entitlement would have been 240 barrels per day) are currently uncertain. Subject to further assessment of the log results, a revised B5 work-over may be undertaken at the end of the current drilling campaign, which includes the Basker-3 work-over and the Basker-7 development well.
