OptiBiotix expands product ranges, sees positive drug trial results

Optibiotix Health PLC on Wednesday said it expanded its product range with Holland & Barrett Retail Ltd as well as expanded geographically.

UK retailer Holland & Barrett now sells eight products containing OptiBiotix's SlimBiome ingredient, up from three. A partner in India expanded its range of OptiBiotix products, while products containing OptiBiotix ingredients have been launched in Thailand and Taiwan.

York-based OptiBiotix also said it will soon publish trial results showing its LPLDL ingredient can reduce cholesterol without any side effects. If safety, tolerance and efficacy levels are confirmed, it will substantially reduce the risk, timeline and costs in developing LPLDL as a drug.

Stephen O'Hara, OptiBiotix chief executive said: "The company is in a pivotal position in reporting profitability within its divisions from early sales of our first generation products whilst building the scientific and clinical evidence base to de-risk our highly innovative second generation products."

Shares were up 4.3% to 53.20 pence in London.
