Omega Diagnostics receives first FoodPrint order from CLIA lab in US

Fri, 06th Jan 2023 09:42

(Alliance News) - Omega Diagnostics Group PLC on Friday marked an expansion milestone, following the receipt of a maiden purchase order for its FoodPrint system from a laboratory in the US.

Omega Diagnostics is a Cambridgeshire, England-based specialist medical diagnostics company, focused on promoting a personalised and functional approach to health and nutrition.

The FoodPrint system is a diagnostic test, which uses a small finger prick of blood to identify an individual's unique food sensitivity reactions. It analyses over 220 foods, and is designed to help fast track a guided elimination diet.

Omega Diagnostics expects installation at the CLIA-certified laboratory to begin later this month, and the processing of tests by the end of this quarter. CLIA stands for clinical laboratory improvement amendments.

In further news, the company has also secured an importer for FoodPrint kits into the US. The importer will import kits for the CLIA laboratory, as well as for Omega's own direct channels in future.

"The US is the single largest market for food sensitivity testing globally, with an ever-increasing demand for personalised medicine, and is a focus area for our growth plans. This installation reflects a key milestone in our expansion plans, the receiving laboratory is ideally placed to commercialise FoodPrint in the US market as they are already providing a range of other functional tests. The appointment of the US importer will act as a foundation for our expansion into the region," said Chief Executive Officer Jag Grewal.

"Once the system has been commissioned, we plan to collaborate closely with our laboratory partner to ensure FoodPrint is promoted effectively through their existing healthcare practitioner and direct to consumer channels."

Omega Diagnostics shares were trading 3.1% higher at 3.97 pence each in London on Friday morning.
