MOVES-HSBC hires Maskell for financial sponsors role

LONDON, Jan 17 (IFR) - HSBC has hired Alexis Maskell fromDeutsche Bank to head its account coverage within its financialsponsors group.

HSBC said in a memo to staff seen by IFR that Maskell willreport to Gilles Collombin, head of its financial sponsorsgroup, and they will set the strategic direction of the unit.

The memo from Matthew Westerman and Robin Phillips, co-headsof global banking, said HSBC is expanding its financial sponsorsfranchise after shifting last year from a country focus to anaccount-led model. They said Maskell will be part of the globalbanking leadership team.

Maskell covered key sponsors in Europe at Deutsche Bank. HisLinkedIn profile said he has worked at Deutsche since October2007, and previously worked at Citigroup and Cazenove. (Reporting by Steve Slater; Editing by Ian Edmondson)
