Mediclinic operating performance recovers in June

Wed, 22nd Jul 2020 08:20
(Sharecast News) - Private healthcare services group Mediclinic said on Wednesday that the operating performances at its Hirslanden and Mediclinic Middle East sites were ahead of the prior year in June.

Mediclinic said that it had experienced a continued improvement in operational performance, demonstrating operational resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic and its aftermath.

However, the FTSE 250-listed firm warned that the severity, duration and full impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and its economic aftermath remained uncertain.

It also cautioned that revenues in South Africa continued to be impacted by the crisis and were down approximately 12% year-on-year last month.

"Mediclinic is focused on fulfilling its vital role as a leading provider of essential healthcare services during this crisis. To this end, the group remains agile in its approach, optimising its response to overcome challenges and create opportunities while seeking to maintain its strong financial position and liquidity," said the firm.

As of 0830 BST, Mediclinic shares were up 5.59% at 268.20p.
