MedaPhor To Start Data Capture Clinical Trial For AnatomyGuide

Fri, 23rd Nov 2018 16:10

LONDON (Alliance News) - MedaPhor Group PLC said Friday it will start a clinical trial to capture data for for ultrasound-guided anaesthetic procedures.

The company, which focuses on ultrasound software, said the trial is for its AnatomyGuide artificial intelligence software, and will be carried out at the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

Ultrasound-guided anaesthetic procedures such as peripheral nerve blocks are increasingly being used for "safer and more cost-effective alternative to general anaesthesia", it said, but not all anaesthetists have the specialist knowledge needed to perform them.

AnatomyGuide provides software support and guidance to aid less experienced clinicians during the procedure, the firm explained.

AnatomyGuide is being developed as part of an Innovate UK project funded within the government's AI and data grand challenge.

MedaPhor shares were untraded on Friday, last quoted at 8.25 pence each.
