Intertek buys US food tester

Quality and safety services provider Intertek has snapped up American Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (AAC Labs), a business that provides laboratory-based food testing in the United States.Intertek has paid $6.9m for the US company in a move that will expand its network of food services and add North American chemical testing capabilities to the group's existing chemical testing, microbiological, inspection, auditing and certification services. "Food chemical testing is an important part of regulatory and product development support to clients and AAC Labs gives us a good position to capture the growing market for this from the Americas region," said Intertek's chief executive officer, Wolfhart Hauser.AAC Labs is based in Champaign, Illinois, and employs 28 staff.
