Inspiration Healthcare Gets CE Mark For Neonatal Resuscitation Device

Mon, 07th Mar 2016 11:02

LONDON (Alliance News) - Inspiration Healthcare Group PLC on Monday said its Inspire rPAP neonatal resuscitation device has been granted a CE mark.

The medical device company said Inspire rPAP utilises technology, which reduces the work of breathing imposed on a baby from traditional methods of ventilation. It delivers variable flow and pressure to a baby during resuscitation, and when this is not needed delivers nasal continuous positive airway pressure.

Inspiration Healthcare said it now intends to launch the device in the UK and Europe, following an initial trial in Sweden, and will file for US registration to be able to market the product globally.

"This is the first product we have developed from start to finish as a disposable medical device which has been given a CE mark. It fits perfectly with our "LifeStart" neonatal resuscitation unit and will help the sickest and most fragile babies from the moment they are born. We believe we can improve outcomes for babies by the products we are developing," Chief Executive Neil Campbell said in a statement.

Shares in Inspiration Healthcare were trading up 5.2% at 51.00 pence on Monday morning.
