Imagination Technology Gets New Processor Deal With MediaTek

Fri, 13th Sep 2013 07:25

LONDON (Alliance News) - Imagination Technologies PLC Friday said it has signed a further multi-year license agreement with partner MediaTek Inc for the supply of multiple core processors from Imagination's PowerVR Series6 'Rogue' graphics architecture family and beyond.

In a statement, Imagination Technologies, which makes cloud, processor and communication technology, said its PowerVR Series6 is already enabling MediaTek to deliver products with advanced graphical features.

MediaTek Inc makes semiconductors for wireless communications and digital multimedia. It will deploy the Imagination technology in system on chip devices targeting multiple markets across its product range, Imagination said.

System on a chip is an integrated circuit that integrates all components of a computer or other electronic system into a single chip. For example, a system on chip for a sound detecting device might include an audio receiver, an analog-to-digital converter, a microprocessor, memory, and the input/output logic control for a user on a single microchip.

Imagination will get license fees and royalty revenues on shipment of SoCs incorporating Imagination's technology.

Imagination Technology shares were up 5.9% at 327.6 pence Friday morning, the biggest gainer on the FTSE 250.
