FTSE 250 movers: Dialight dives on profit warning

Thu, 12th Sep 2013 14:26

Delays in the signing of large contracts has forced industrial lighting group Dialight to warn that profits will be flat for the full year, causing shares to drop sharply, pushing the stock into the bottom spot on the second tier index. Kentz was also a heavy faller after AMEC said it would not make a firm offer for the company after its £700m proposal was rejected. Kentz Chief Executive Christian Brown said: "I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our focus on delivering value to our shareholders. Naturally, while we have every confidence in our ability to deliver further value to our shareholders as an independent company, the board fully understands its responsibilities to all our shareholders."Meanwhile, Home Retail, the owner of the Argos and Homebase retail chains, was the top riser after it said it expected full-year profits to meet expectations after the good summer helped sales growth gather pace. Underlying sales at Argos rose 2.7% in the second quarter, picking up from 1.9% growth in the first quarter driven by strong sales in seasonal products. It has seen stellar growth in sales over mobiles and tables with mobile commerce now representing 17% of total Argos sales. However, gross margins fell 50 basis points in the second quarter after it sold more electrical goods. Higher numbers of larger online supermarket orders have helped Ocado to grow sales in the third quarter, as it made progress towards launching its partnership with Morrisons in early 2014. The online grocery group grew gross sales 16.4% to £189.2m, helping it to increase cash levels by 81% to £114.6m.FTSE 250 - RisersHome Retail Group (HOME) 173.60p +5.92%Perform Group (PER) 562.00p +2.65%Derwent London (DLN) 2,366.00p +2.29%Dunelm Group (DNLM) 949.00p +2.04%Ocado Group (OCDO) 378.30p +1.94%Hunting (HTG) 861.50p +1.89%Essar Energy (ESSR) 138.40p +1.76%Enterprise Inns (ETI) 154.00p +1.72%Greggs (GRG) 443.70p +1.67%Go-Ahead Group (GOG) 1,539.00p +1.58%FTSE 250 - FallersDialight (DIA) 1,143.00p -16.87%Kentz Corporation Ltd.
