FTSE 100 movers: Petrofac continues its rise

Mon, 08th Mar 2010 14:46

It is a mixed day for the Footsie with financials heading the better performers, although there are also financial and property companies included in the poorer performers. Oil services provider Petrofac continues to rise following last week's news of the demerger of its oil and gas exploration assets and today's better than expected results. Revenue increased by 10% to $3.65bn in 2009. Net profit was one-third higher at $353.6m. Petrofac has cash in the bank of $1.4bn. The final dividend is being raised by 405 to 25.1 cents a share (16.69p a share). The order book is worth $8.1bn. EnQuest, which will float in London, will comprise Petrofac's North Sea assets and Lundin Petroleum's assets in the UK. Intertek also released strong figures but there was a less positive share price reaction. Product quality and safety tester Intertek increased its pre-tax profit by 22% to £169.2m - or £191.5m excluding exceptional charges. Organic revenue growth, at constant exchange rates, was 3.5%. The total dividend is 23% higher at 25.5p a share. Strong cash flow meant that borrowings fell to £201m. The organic growth rate is expected to be low in the first half of 2010 but it should pick up later in the year. Charles Stanley says that the shares are up with events following a rise of more than 50% over the past year.
