Dow Jones Newswires Coverage Of EU Bank Stress Test Results

Fri, 23rd Jul 2010 19:19

European authorities Friday released results showing EU banks largely passed a round of government stress tests, with just a few institutions found to need modest amounts of new capital. Out of 91 banks, just seven failed the tests: Germany's Hypo Real Estate Holding, ATEbank (ATE.AT) in Greece and five small Spanish regional banks, failed the tests. But the overall strong grades--awarded to a banking system that for the last several months has lurched from crisis to crisis--raised questions over whether the month-long tests were tough enough to be judged credible. Dow Jones's coverage of the stress tests includes: WSJ: European Banks Largely Pass Stress Tests 7 Fail EU Stress Tests, Need EUR3.5B Capital EU,ECB,CEBS: Test Results Confirm Overall Strength Of EU Banks Europe's Largest Banks Get Stamp Of Approval Under EU Tests WSJ: Markets Ponder Whether Stress Tests Were Tough Enough Europe Bank, Sovereign CDS A Touch Wider On Stress Test UK Banks Pass Europe-Wide Stress Test All But One German Bank Pass Stress Tests Nationalized German Hypo RE Fails EU Stress Test German Finance Minister Welcomes Stress Tests Results Swiss National Bank:Stress Test Positive For Large Swiss Banks UBS, Credit Suisse Endorsed In Stress Test Of Capital Austria's Erste Bank, Raiffeisen Say They Passed EU Stress Test French Bks Pass Stress Tests With Minor Tier 1 Hit In Worst Case Belgian Banks KBC, Dexia Pass Stress Tests All Four Dutch Banks Pass EU Stress Test Greece's ATEbank Fails Worst-Case Test, Needs EUR242.6M ATEbank To Proceed With Capital Raising After Failing Test Greek State To Safeguard Financial Stability of ATEbank Greek, Spanish Bank CDS Among Biggest Movers After Stress Tests All 5 Italian Banks Pass EU Stress Test Bank Of Ireland, Allied Irish Pass EU Stress Tests Five Spanish Cajas Fail EU Stress Tests Bank Of Spain: 4 Cajas Groups Need EUR1.835 Bln From FROB Bank Of Portugal: Portuguese Banks Pass Stress Test All Four Main Swedish Banks Pass EU-wide Stress Test Finland's Pohjola Bank Passes EU-wide Stress Test Poland PKO Bank Polski Passes EU Stress Test Luxembourg Fin Min: Luxembourg Banks Pass Stress Tests Slovenia's NLB Passes Worst-Case Scenario Stress Test Malta's Central Bank Says Bank Of Valletta Passes Stress Test AT A GLANCE: Summary Of EU Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE: Summary Of UK Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE: Summary Of German Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE: Summary Of French Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE: Summary Of Italian Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE: Summary Of Dutch Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE: Summary Of Greek Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE:Summary Of Nordic Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE: Summary Of Portuguese Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE: Summary Of Irish Bank Stress Test Results AT A GLANCE: Summary Of Belgian Bank Stress Test Results (END) Dow Jones Newswires July 23, 2010 14:19 ET (18:19 GMT)
