Conservatives Move 10 Points Ahead Of Labour In New UK Election Poll

Thu, 14th Nov 2019 06:41

(Alliance News) - The Conservatives are in the lead with 40% while Labour are on 30% ahead of next month's General Election, according to a new poll.

The findings mark the largest Conservative lead in a Savanta ComRes survey since the 2017 ballot, the pollster said.

The voting intention poll, which involved 2,022 adults on November 11 and 12, put the Lib Dems on 16% and the Brexit Party on 7%.

Voters were surveyed following the Brexit Party's announcement they would not run in the 317 constituencies the Tories won in 2017.

Four in five (80%) 2017 Conservative voters intend to vote Tory again in December, compared to 73% of 2017 Labour voters who are intending to opt for them this time round, the survey suggests.

When it comes to 2016 Leavers and Remainers, almost two-thirds (62%) of Leavers intend to vote Conservative, compared to less than half (45%) of Remainers who intend to vote Labour, according to the poll conducted for the Daily Telegraph.

Around half of the British adults surveyed agree they have a good understanding of the Conservative, Lib Dem or Brexit Party Brexit policies (53%, 49% and 48% respectively), while only a third (34%) agree they have a good understanding of Labour's Brexit policy.

The pollster said that according to voting analysis website Electoral Calculus, if the parties were to achieve these vote shares at a General Election, it would result in the Conservatives having a majority of 110.
