Chemring Appoints Ex-BT, IBM Executive Bowen As Non-Executive Director

(Alliance News) - Chemring PLC said Tuesday it appointed former BT Group PLC executive Laurie Bowen as non-executive director from Thursday.

Bowen has "broad technology and engineering experience and a strong track record of driving growth in complex international businesses", the defence engineering firm explained.

Most recently, she served as chief executive of Telecom Italia Sparkle. Sparkle is the Americas-focused subsidiary of the wholesale arm of Telecom Italia. In addition to BT, Bowen also been an executive at Cable & Wireless Communications PLC and International Business Machines Corp.

Bowen currently is a non-executive director of engineering firm Ricardo PLC.

Chemring Chair Carl-Peter Forster explained he was "delighted" to welcome Bowen to Chemring.

"She brings significant experience within the technology and engineering sectors, and a valuable understanding of operating within the US market," Forster added. "I am confident that she will make a strong contribution to the continued development and performance of the group."

Shares in Chemring were 0.5% higher at 185.00 pence in London on Tuesday.
