BP's Whiting crude unit to be shut for at least a month -sources

HOUSTON, Aug 11 (Reuters) - BP Plc's 240,000 barrelper day crude distillation unit at its Whiting, Indiana,refinery was expected to be shut for at least a month aftersustaining heavy damage to piping and metallurgy on Saturday,sources familiar with plant operations said on Tuesday.

The sources stressed the time frame for repairing the unit,the largest CDU at its 413,500 bpd refinery, could be longer asrefinery operators continue to probe the damage sustained onSaturday. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Marguerita Choy)
