Beacon Hill Resources appoints new managers

Coal producer Beacon Hill Resources announced on Monday the appointment of John Daly as Chief Operating Officer and Mac van der Merwe as Operations Manager of Rail. Daly has most recently worked as Director and Mining Services at AMCI Africa for the company's Mozambican and South African operations. He was also a General Manager for BHP Billiton's Savmore Colliery and Emaswati Coal.Van der Merwe also worked for BHP Billiton where he was a consultant in rail and port. He previously worked for COALlink/Orex as a Business and Commercial Manager and as Project Leader for Eskom's Majuba power station rail projects. The two will begin their new positions from March 1st.Chief Executive Officer, Rowan Karstel, said: "I am delighted to have secured both John and Mac to join the Beacon Hill senior management team. "Both bring the benefit of over 40 years of cumulative experience in the sector and are highly respected in their fields of expertise. The new additions strengthen the company's executive committee at a critical time and will play a key role in ramping up the Minas Moatize coking coal mine into full production."RD
