(Alliance News) - AstraZeneca PLC on Friday said it has appointed Euan Ashley as non-executive director and a member of the company's science committee with effect from the start of October.
Ashley is associate dean and professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Genetics at Stanford University in the US state of California. Ashley's research focuses on genetic mechanisms of cardiovascular health and disease.
AstraZeneca Chair Leif Johansson said: "We look forward to welcoming Euan to AstraZeneca and believe his scientific achievements and interests, which are well-aligned with our own bio-pharmaceuticals research and development, together with his entrepreneurial experience on the US west coast will enable him to make a significant contribution to the board's work."
AstraZeneca shares were down 0.9% in London early Friday at 8,484.00 pence.
