FTSE 250 movers: Rate cut sends SuperGroup sliding

Mon, 19th May 2014 14:44

A recommendation cut from Oriel Securities knocked more than 5% off of SuperGroup's share price. The broker changed its recommendation to 'reduce' from 'hold', saying "we are starting to ask ourselves whether there is something more fundamental afoot" with the decline in its like-for-like sales, which fell 3.1% in the fourth quarter. Shares in Shaftesbury were lower despite an in line performance by the property group, which said its net asset value rose sharply in the last six months as demand continued to flourish. Oriel Securities retained its 'add' rating, saying the group is "well placed to take advantage of these market conditions, with significant portfolio reversion, and a large development in Carnaby due to complete from early 2015". Specialty chemicals group Alent was higher on the news it has maintained its outlook for the full year despite adverse currency movements. The company said that trading since the start of 2014 has been in line with expectations with a 'slight increase in demand' being noted across the main electronics and automotive end-markets.Numis moved its target price from 330p to 340p, upgrading the stock to 'add'.MicroFocus International was higher after it reported a "satisfactory" end to the financial year and revealed year-on-year growth in total revenue on a constant currency basis will be around the upper end of the 3% to 6% guidance range. Dixons Retail climbed on the news it has signed a deal to sell its ElectroWorld operations in Central Europe to NAY, a regional electrical specialist. The Currys and PC World-owner expects to receive a small deferred cash consideration spread over three years.
