Royal Dutch Shell reports its fourth quarter results on Thursday after issuing a shock profit warning earlier this month.In a trading update on January 17th, the oil producer said it expects the quarterly figures to be "significantly lower than recent levels of profitability".The company anticipates profit for the quarter to be about $2.2bn and profit for 2013 as a whole to be $16.8bn. Today, Shell announced the sale of its 23% stake in Brazilian project Parque das Conchas to Qatar Petroleum International for $1bn in an effort to raise cash this year. "Royal Dutch Shell is a touch higher after announcing the sale of a stake in Brazilian project Qatar Petroleum International," IG Market Analyst, David Madden, noted."The oil giant's share price hasn't recovered since its shock profit-warning nearly two weeks ago, and today's disposal strikes me as a cash-grabbing exercise."Shell has been criticised for spending too much in recent years and is under pressure to improve its capital.Investec said the market will be looking for "some qualitative guidance at the very least" from the company's Chief Executive Ben van Beurden, who took over at the start of this year.British Sky Broadcasting Group, Diageo, Johnson Matthey and Kazakhmys will also report tomorrow with the release of interim results. On the macro-economic front, the focus will be on Eurozone consumer confidence figures, German inflation, US gross domestic product (GDP) and US initial jobless claims. The data comes amid fears of a stagnant recovery in the Eurozone and in the wake of the US Federal Reserve's latest policy decision. The final reading on HSBC's Chinese manufacturing sector purchasing managers' survey for the month of January is also due out, with the 'official' set of data due for release over the coming weekend.
