LONDON, June 24 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell saidit had suspended maintenance work on a pipeline at its Pernisrefinery in Rotterdam after nearby residents complained of badodours.
The maintenance was halted on Saturday after complaints of"oil-gas-like smells" from residents at the town of Schiedam,the company said in a statement.
"It has emerged that these symptoms were caused bymaintenance work on our premises, and, therefore, these wereshut down immediately."
Maintenance on the pipeline was still suspended on Monday, acompany spokesman said, declining to comment on the impact onproduction. Under normal circumstances the refinery can processabout 400,000 barrels of oil per day.
