HOUSTON, Aug 19 (Reuters) - The largest crude distillationunit at Motiva Enterprises 600,000 barrel per day(bpd) Port Arthur, Texas, refinery will be out of production forat least two weeks while repairs are made to a neighboringhydrocracking unit damaged in a Saturday night fire, sourcesfamiliar with operations at the refinery said on Monday.
The 16-month-old 325,000 bpd CDU, called VPS-5, was takenout of production on Sunday and placed on warm circulationbecause the shut hydrocracker was unable to refine the largevolume of vacuum gasoil produced by the CDU's vacuum section,the sources said.
The fire burned communication lines and damagedinstrumentation used to operate the HCU before beingextinguished on Sunday morning, the sources said. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
