Modern Water Sells AMBC Technology For South Korean Salt Project

Mon, 25th Nov 2019 12:38

(Alliance News) - Modern Water PLC said Monday it has secured the sale of its largest, by volume, all-membrane brine concentrator plant to be used in South Korea's first deep seawater salt production project.

Modern Water shares were up 13% up in London at 1.58 pence each on Monday.

The wastewater technology firm said the plant will have capacity for treating approximately 13 cubic meters per hour, concentrating sea water sourced from a depth of up to 600 meters.

Salt production from seawater offers environmental benefits compared to land-based salt mining, which can result in environmental problems due to the waste it generates and the health hazard posed to salt miners, the company noted.

Modern Water said the project will be executed in conjunction with its partner in China, Hangzhou Shangtuo Environmental Science & Technology Co Ltd.

Modern Water Chief Executive Officer Simon Humphrey said: "This is Modern Water's largest single AMBC plant yet and follows on from various successful plants we have designed with our partners in India and China."
