MelodyVR Announces Partnership With Live Nation UK For VR Festivals

Wed, 08th Jul 2020 11:23

(Alliance News) - London-based MelodyVR Group PLC on Wednesday said it has entered into an exclusive partnership with Live Nation UK for a series of live virtual reality concerts.

The creator of virtual reality entertainment content and operator of the MelodyVR platform will be connecting artists and fans in virtual reality.

The performances will be streamed from O2 Academy venue in Brixton, London, and will require the MelodyVR app and a smartphone or Oculus VR device.

The partnership follows the success of Wireless Festival's Wireless Connect, a virtual festival which took place over the last three days and was co-created by MelodyVR. Wireless Connect replaced the original festival due to its cancellation following the Coronavirus outbreak.

The online festival brought performances of over 70 UK and US artists to 132,000 fans from 34 countries.

MelodyVR Chief Executive Officer Anthony Matchett said: "MelodyVR's mission is to use our innovative technology to make sure artists can keep staging amazing shows and fans can continue to experience and enjoy the live music that they love."

Live Nation UK Chair Denis Desmond said: "We look forward to partnering with MelodyVR and presenting Live From O2 Academy Brixton which will connect artists with fans globally through the latest and exciting 360° VR technology, direct from a purpose-built studio set within this iconic and world-famous venue."

MelodyVR shares were up 12% at 5.05 pence late on Wednesday morning. Live Nation Entertainment Inc shares closed at USD45.04 on Tuesday.
