LONDON (Dow Jones)--Electronic equipment distributor Elektron PLC (EKT.LN) Monday said its first half pretax profit is expected to "significantly" exceed its management's original expectations, with the company confident it can also outperform over the full-year. In a brief trading update Essex, U.K.-based Electron said while its board is staying cautious about trading in the second half due to the broader global economic environment, its order book remains strong and the board says the company will also perform better than management's previous expectations over the full year, which ends January 31. It didn't say what its original expectations were, but according to Factset the company had been expected to make a fiscal 2011 pretax profit of GBP3 million on sales of GBP36 million. Elektron expects to announce first-half results on September 16. -By Hannah Benjamin, Dow Jones Newswires; 44-20-7842-9298; hannah.benjamin@dowjones.com (END) Dow Jones Newswires July 05, 2010 02:44 ET (06:44 GMT)
