(Sharecast News) - ECO Animal Health Group announced on Tuesday that it has received a marketing authorisation from the Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam for the use of 'Aivlosin' 625 mg/g water soluble granules in pigs and poultry. The AIM-traded firm said Aivlosin, its patented antimicrobial, was used for the treatment of a variety of economically important respiratory and enteric diseases in pigs and poultry. It said the authorisation would allow it to start selling Aivlosin in Vietnam for the medication of drinking water for the treatment and prevention of porcine proliferative enteropathy (PPE), caused by Lawsonia intracellularis in pigs, the treatment and prevention of respiratory disease associated with Mycoplasma gallisepticum in chickens and the treatment of respiratory disease in turkeys associated with Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale. The license now allowed ECO to submit the EU approved Aivlosin regulatory files for the treatment of layers in Vietnam, the fourth largest egg producing country in Southeast Asia.ECO said the new treatments met "all the latest guidelines" for the responsible use of antimicrobials. It added that importantly, with global concerns about the use of antibiotics in food production animals, Aivlosin was administered under the control of veterinarians, available by prescription only and had low, highly effective therapeutic dose rates, a short treatment duration and a zero day drug withholding period."We are extremely pleased to receive this marketing authorisation for Aivlosin in Vietnam which is the largest pork producing country in Southeast Asia and look forward to receiving an approval for commercial layers in the future," said ECO Animal Health Group chairman Peter Lawrence.
