SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Lookers ups outlook; Braemar rally halted

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Thursday.

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Lookers PLC, up 6.1% at 71.49 pence, 12-month range 22.00p-75.00p. The Altrincham, Cheshire-based motor retail and aftersales service provider raises its annual underlying pretax profit outlook to GBP50 million, following a GBP36.1 million loss in 2020. In the six months to June 30, Lookers said like-for-like new units sales were up 45%, used units up 38% and aftersales revenue up 34%. Peer Pendragon rises 8.2% in a positive read-across.

Headlam Group PLC, up 7.6% at 527.10 pence, 12-month range 244.00p-534.94p. The Birmingham-based floor coverings provider hits this 12-month high on Thursday. It says July trading is in line with two years earlier, before the onset of the pandemic. It is now entering a "traditionally busy summer period for refurbishment activity". It now expects annual results to top market expectations. Company-compiled consensus forecasts underlying pretax profit of GBP29.0 million, on revenue of GBP653.5 million.

Devro PLC, up 2.1% at 220.00 pence, 12-month range 143.00p-225.02p. The sausage casings maker says revenue in the six months to June 30 rises 0.8% to GBP119.9 million from GBP119.0 million. Pretax profit rises 36% annually to GBP18.4 million from GBP13.5 million. The Chryston, Scotland-based firm lifts its interim payout to 2.8p per share from 2.7p. Hits this 12-month high on Thursday.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

Braemar Shipping Services PLC, down 4.1% at 288.55p, 12-month range 117.00p-314.00p. Shares in the London-based shipbroker decline after a four session win streak. The stock remains 4.0% higher than it was last week Thursday, however.
