LONDON (Alliance News) - WH Smith PLC on Tuesday said it appointed three more people to its board with two as non-executive directors.
The newspaper, stationary and books retailer appointed Carl Cowling, currently managing director of its High Street business to the board.
Prior to joining WH Smith in 2014, Cowling spent much of his career in the electrical retail industry, including more than 10 years at Dixons Carphone PLC.
Furthermore, WH Smith hired Simon Emeny, currently chief executive officer of pub chain Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC, and Maurice Thompson, chair of Greensill Capital, as non-executives.
"We are delighted to welcome Simon and Maurice on to the board of WH Smith. Their combined retail and financial expertise will ensure we continue to be well positioned to invest in new opportunities and grow the business," WH Smith Chair Henry Staunton said.
WH Smith shares were trading up 2.0% at 2,116.00 pence each.
