LONDON (Alliance News) - Avanti Communications Group PLC on Tuesday said it has signed a deal with Telkom SA to provide high-speed broadband coverage in South Africa.
Avanti will supply the service using its HYLAS 2 Ka-band satellite, which provides 100% coverage to South Africa.
No financial details were disclosed on the multi-year deal.
"It is of great importance for Avanti to secure the partnership of Telkom in our shared mission to bring broadband to all government sites, businesses and homes in South Africa," said Avanti Chief Executive David Williams.
"Avanti has now won contracts with the incumbent national telecoms companies in all of its core African markets, in-line with its announced strategy," he added.
Shares in Avanti were up 11% to 260.00 pence on Tuesday morning.
