Small caps round-up: Superglass, Akers Biosciences, TT electronics...

Fri, 14th Jan 2011 14:00

Insulation products maker Superglass is experiencing solid trading with specialist distributors and builders' merchants, but, as anticipated, there has been a slow start to the newly extended carbon emissions reduction target (CERT) programme. The expectation is that the company's trading performance will be significantly second half (March to August) weighted. "CERT remains the key driver of trading for the company in the short term and the factors underpinning growth in this channel are strengthening. However, the timing and rate of growth in demand arising from the CERT extension remains uncertain and will ultimately determine the outcome for the financial year," the company said. The BreathScan PRO alcohol detection system developed by Britain's Akers Biosciences is on sale in the US and Europe after receiving full market clearance from the US regulators this week."We expect the FDA-clearance and inefficiency of existing testing procedures will open up many doors for marketing opportunities," said boss Thomas Nicolette.Sensor and electronic component firm TT electronics traded as expected during the fourth quarter of 2010, with sales for the year from continuing operations about 24% ahead of 2009 at constant exchange rates. "The business traded well with consistently higher volumes during 2010 and has entered the new financial year with a good order book giving visibility into the second quarter," it said Friday. Telecommunications software group Globo expects profit before tax for 2010 to be in line with forecasts following a better than expected 31% increase in revenue to €30.9m.
