I guess when your worth billions who cares!! Get ready for KOOVS to take off very soon...
Well said Ejackson. The open hostility that Mr Ashley deploys to all those that he employs/invests in will lead to his downfall in the end. You cannot treat all around with such contempt without retribution.
Looks like MA's ego got ahead of his talent. Could be a decent shorting or buying opp here this afternoon.
Looks like a masterclass today in how to treat shareholders poorly. After how he treated Debenhams shareholders can any of us be surprised today?
trying to cook it chance to sell today
My suspicion is that we won't see this at 14.00 either. Is there a problem getting a sign off from the auditors.
In which case, is this more total catastrophe, rather than "bad".
Another delay from Sports Direct
We are currently still finalising our preliminary results and will update you again at 14:00, the company says in a statement.
The results - delayed from last week - had been expected at 07:00.
no results today ,... must be bad or really bad was one comment on BBC
MA stated he might make a 5p offer for Debenhams - he never did .. Then he was going to take the company to court - this week he bailed out. Probably the financial state of his own retail empire might be the reason he is now probably just going to focus on what he holds rather than try to buy the rest of the high street!!
I wish no ill towards any shareholders here but as one that has invested in Findel, I find Mike Ashley a total menace and bully given the content of the RNS provided by Findel yesterday, copied below. He /SPD are nothing other than rank hypocrites. With regards to the investment case at SPD, I cannot find one reason why I would want to be a shareholder in the company with an opaque and deluded strategy that only one man seems to know of but is not willing to be answerable for, however, investors must be alarmed at how members of his senior management continue to walk out the door and move on, rightly distancing themselves from the impending car crash imo. A truly shocking individual.
The Board is disappointed to note that our largest shareholder, Sports Direct International PLC (SDI), voted their shareholding of 31,850,000 shares (36.85% of the Company's issued share capital) against the re-appointment of Mr Caldwell, our CFO. The resolution was nevertheless passed with a vote of 58.06% voting in favour of the resolution and with only 2,059 shares voting against in addition to SDI.
Representatives from SDI made contact with the Company in advance of voting and it is our understanding that they have concerns regarding the Company's accounting policies, and in particular the treatment of SDI as a related party in the Company's 2019 Statutory Accounts and the Company's inventory and depreciation policies. The Audit Committee reviewed these areas as part of the annual audit process and fully agree with the accounting and reporting positions taken in each case, as do the entire Board. The Company's auditors, KPMG LLP, signed an unqualified opinion on 4 June 2019. The Board continues to have full confidence in Mr Caldwell, who will continue as our CFO.
Hi pearls your a hard working deramper funny you 2 quid again
Cooking books cant be good
The losses must be bigger than all the fingers and toes that Mike Ashley has available to count on.
I wonder if anyone has taught him how to use an abacus yet?
Agree. Any company at the moment that meets guidance is spinning the obvious. its always coy to say this but headwinds are there and thats what the market will really see
Going below £2 today - I cannot see how HOF is anything other than a disaster to SPD without being able to include Debenhams
BBC news reporting that the results were due 8am! Opening drop coming...
Who is the Board trying to fool? How can the disaster at HOF be anything other than an extreme drain on SPD? Roll on the 26th and we'll all see what on earth is going on here.
Market expecation after the last RNS was that HoF may be a going concern, crashing etc. Latest statement is now "within guidance".
I have a feeling Sports Direct have overperformed, not as much as JD and thats offset any weak performance form HoF.
So still a concern but overall positive.
YUP! Pearls has a massive hard on over MA! had to sell most of his wife's designer handbags to cover his losses!
Karen Byers and Cameron Olsen walking, should this have been a Red flag?
I just want to hear what Mike Ashley has got to say about Debenhams at the update
A brief article in the Daily Mail is hinting this may be the next CAKE... Grant Thornton are the auditors... Gulp!
Surprised at the lateness of the notification of the results delay - did they really only know 3 days before the planned release.
One notes the departure of key personnel - are these related ?
More news to come one must assume.
Looks like this company is being "set up" for a CVA?
He deserves the ire of Debenhams shareholders - he did after all effectively mislead all of us. Still, since he’s lost £150m personally perhaps the last laugh is on him. Maybe he’ll come good with his current court action
