But, but, but we were told he would never be found fit and proper.
"Glasgow's Second team"??? Are you referring to Partick Thistle?
Passes David King. Another fail by the trolls. Who is man enough to admit wrong? Answer: no one. ;)
Thought we would have been closed down by now. Any idea where best to find news of King's potential £1.5m 'matched investment' that will probably be required in a couple of weeks time?
Clears King as fit and proper to take up role as Rangers Chairman.

Will be interesting to see how Glasgow's second team pitch their season ticket offering - do they take a punt and price for Rangers gaining promotion and risk selling even less season books than this season or hold off until after the playoffs and price accordingly ?
@cb so some of the toon fans are revolting.... whats new. We are facing admin2 or liquidation2 and you happy as larry.... yet Ashley would have avoided that at all costs... as he would keep providing loans while cutting costs. King needs to put £20m or £30m on table, and 2 years later same again - that's never gonna fly.... but its his plan... and where does this money come from.... fans that's all - rich fans.... Ashley was a better bet... Now its King and if he is a crook - we doomed.
Pardew was Ashley's puppet, but he was getting punched from both sides. The fans saw his tactics failing towards the end and turned on him. Pardew had his hands tied because of Ashley's way of running the club..... Finance before football. The root of the failing football team problem is Ashley, but as this is a Stocks & Shares BB, you cannot fault him for his business sense. Only if he loosens the purse strings, will we see any success, but that is a long time away :(
CambridgeBlue - and yet Celtic will still bank UEFA money. If only McCoist's management team had been able to do that, you'd still have Craig Whyte in charge! I think it interesting to note that Rangers' interim accounts didn't provide for the £500k loan fee (because that's what it is) which Ashley offered on a provisional basis, as there was "an element of doubt" relating to promotion, and yet Rangers entire business plan, since starting in Division 3, is that European money is seemingly a given. That said, I hope all Scottish teams do well in Europe, it helps the co-efficient (Rangers succeess in getting to the UEFA final pre-liquidation eased Celtic's path in the Champions' League qualifiers for example), but it is a bit of a lottery, the qualifiers coming so early in our season...
Not sure getting Pardew out was the masterstroke it was seen to be at the time. Perhaps the root of the issue is further up the food chain ?
Like I said at the end of my post.... we are not happy fans!! ...and yes there is a 'new' website created called ashleyout dot com... this was set up by the same group who created pardewout dot com
Podga - which was your favourite "reaching 38 points" moment in recent seasons ? Would you be favour of an open top bus around the city centre this season when that magical total is reached ? Also - one hears rumours of Toon boards riddled with pro-Ashley trolls and plants - any truth in that ?
I'm a Newcastle season ticket holder and I'm (was) invested in Rangers... Ashley would have done well with the finance side, it may have taken him a couple of years but he would have sorted it, put Rangers onto a firm footing. He has given Newcastle a £129m interest free loan, which he does not back until he sells the club. How much interest would the club have needed to pay banks etc if they were in that much debt. As for him not being bothered about relegation, he would be! There is too much money in the Premier League now for him not to be in it. When we (NUFC) were relegated a few seasons ago, that was when he cleared the over paid, and reduced the wage bill. He doesn't need to do that again, no player is on massive wages. The fans are not happy about being mediocre, but we will have a team to watch in the future. They won't go into administration and neither would Rangers if he was in control.
or Dundee. H.
or Kilmarnock,or even Hamiltton. H.
packed out games with 50,000 fans - show the protests are hollow..... Newcastle beat Chelsea this year..... and if the get demoted - Ashley cuts players salaries and still makes money.... And toon would win championship and return - they done it before..... Ashley happy mid-table , but will deal with relegation and use parachute (£40m for 2 years) to re-invest in new playing stock and bounce back up.... win-win... for Ashley and fans win something... got load of toon fans and they happy-miserable with where they are - in EPL playing Man u, Livepool and Chelsea....... you cant believe every paper that's banned from Newcastle and therefore posts negative stories.....
@gtaylor "At least now the shareholders have a chance and there are enough real people on the board (I hope you agree that John Bennett and Douglas Park are real businessmen with their own opinions) who will take a stand. " Yup - but are these just patsies - you need real people on board to carry out a con... which king did in past. Why wont he do that now - if he down to his last £2m ? Two ways to make money ... as celtic did - build stadium , sell and walk away with £30m.... or float shares - crash the bus and walk away with £20m.... which way is king going... so far less regulation , less accounts, more risk, more suspicion. Ashley would have left us with debts of £30m... so don't see that as issue when he has cash to bail us out if ever needed - and means anyone buying us in future would pay him royally.... fear king is the low-ball play - as don't see his riches coming to the table... he could not even stump up £1.5m for this months payments...... King is loads of uncertainty... and nervous waiting... Ashley would have been secure and stable... maybe no ambition - but in spfl that would not have stopped us winning games. and stopping 9 or 10 in a row.... even in the past 9inarow there were seasons won by just 1 point - that's 1 game different - 1 goal difference .
Excellent summation gt .
Footyfan - great to see an answer with logic and no abuse. TheMensch and SoF could learn a lot from you. Your analysis for how Ashley would have treated the "club" Glasgow Rangers is probably correct. He would have wanted to see the stadium fool and would use it as a showcase for his brand. He would have lent the club money, and in the process taken more and more earnings streams away from the shareholders. The end result would have been a company with heavy debt, that it would never really be able to pay off. Ashley would have swapped the debt for equity or forced an admin event - either way it wouldn't have worked out well for us the current shareholders. Ashley never wanted to see equity from third parties going into the club - which is what the club most desperately needs - because he clearly saw a clearer plan - one with him in control without ever having to buyout the other 91% shareholders. You could argue that Ashley would be good for the club but not the Company and its shareholders - that is certainly a debate worth having. Recent conversations with Newcastle fans would contradict some of your views but I can see the merits in your argument on the club side. Your may argue that King is going to try and do exactly the same thing as Ashley. Lets see but i would rather take the uncertainty over King's actions with the certainty over where the other lot were taking us. At least now the shareholders have a chance and there are enough real people on the board (I hope you agree that John Bennett and Douglas Park are real businessmen with their own opinions) who will take a stand.
In the defense of other posters, posting here a few times a day or even a few times an hour is not exactly spending "all" their time here. It takes only about two minutes to type out the lengthiest of diatribe (on both sides of the fence). I do notice that anyone who posts anything negative is instantly labelled a troll or Celtic fan. Seriously? It is poor show that people can't allow a reasoned argument. Regardless of whether I agree with someone or not I still defend their right to post their opinion. Calm down guys; it's only a company.
Anyone that wants Ashley on board so he can lend us 30 Billion, a mere fraction of which will go on the pitch isn't a fan of the club. Could be a sweet symmetry next season - Rangers win the SPL and the Toon relegated.
@gtaylor - "being run by a 9% shareholder largely for his benefit" - Ashley wanted us financially stable and making him money - like Newcastle - with a loan as a noose around our neck to stock Portsmouth/Leeds style repeated collapses. Now we are run by someone with 15% of the company - King - whose last stock venture saw all but 2 shareholders fleeces - two being king and his buddy.... if king now down to his last £2m why wont he try to get a £20m payoff in the same manner..... he did it once before... Ashley is cheap business - pile high sell low... why would that not work for us - cheap STs and fill our stadium to capacity....? King will always mean chance fans and investors will loose shirts..... how is that a help... Green, Whyte, Stockbridge, Wallace, King, PMurray.... list of people who did not rebuild us on solid foundations....... Ashley would have laid foundations on a large £20-30m debt to him - but so what.... that would work.... Stu (celtic supporting troll - admits all 3) and CambridgeBlue - agree King and change is good....? Laughable...
Mensch I am happier being delisted than the situation we have been in for the last two years. The listing has done nothing to protect us from horrific connected party transactions (being run by a 9% shareholder largely for his benefit) and AIM never forced the great corporate governance you hanker for. The benefits of a listing are often outweighed by the costs and it is no surprise that some of the largest fund raisings this year have been for private rather than listed companies. This Company has been run for the benefit of a minority of shareholders for too long and despite some of the current board's colorful past i do think they will run the club for the benefit of all shareholders. That to me is way more important than an AIM listing. I appreciate your interest in my education. I can only imagine the horrors you went through at school, culminating in the twisted hatred that comes off your keyboard. At least your recent reply clearly outlines your hatred of rangers and its supporters. Do your worst and we will do our best. The tide has turned and your rage covers me in goosebumps!
