I've seen where this SP can go and what the NBV is - frustrating when it is so quiet for a period like this.
I just have to remind myself that the stock market is a mechanism for transferring wealth from the impatient to the patient.
I recklessly bought some more this morning.
Some people never learn!
A Little Blue again youtu.be/GxXSUyc3BAU
We're a little blue (up) at the moment (at the risk of channelling Eiffel 65)
Not specific to OBC.. general carnage, plus the UST/LUNA affair has spooked the market. USDT almost depegged earlier today, and was down 5% at one point. I bought the @rse out of ARB this morning at 45P. Looking at OBC too, but waiting z bit to see if ARB bounces. BTC seems to be bouncing for now, having hit $25k in a waterfall sell-off. UMBR smashed down too. 25p for OBC seems cheap. Thankfully ADVFN remains unmoved by it all.
I've just seen the UMBR price - that's had a crash over the last 24 hours, so that may have caused a reflex action over here.
Stupid really because if OBC have 1 million UMBR that's still worth £1M on top of the AFN share and other net current assets.......
The whole market is a drain right now - thankfully my exposure here is not so big and I've instead bought more AFN directly.
Markets can be irrational but a situation like this is extremely unusual - where the NBV of shares in another company and cash in hand are worth substantially more than the whole entity... It's reached Warren Buffet territory whereby somebody might just as well buy this whole company, shut it down, sell the shares in AFN and keep the cash.
Bennster, I've no idea other than to commiserate. I've had these shares for about 20 years, sold some last year but not as many as I should seeing as the price is now about GBP1 less than it was when I sold. I might've bought back in, I might not, but it'd been nice to have the option and spend the money as I ain't a spring chicken.
what the chuff is going on here????
The book value of the share in ADVFN is now worth more than the SP.... OBC own 17% of AFN, which is worth £3.5M
OBC is worth less than that????
OBC -22p/25p
Honey, I shrank the money!
:-(
Argo down 17pc, I suppose that's not helping.
Yes - ADVFN have the new directors, the Israeli led group -they are threatening to shake that up big time.
We are at a point again where the value of OBC's stake of AFN alone covers the MCAP here
I believe they hold 1 million umbr.
ADVFN action is interesting... something is going on over there.
Can anyone tell me if OBC actually have a shareholding/investment in Umbria? Thanks
At least AFN is up (15%).
Least said, soonest mended?
About time!
Hopefully we can get a rise now.
Good to see the progress update.
Impressed
We have finally got to the stage of an operational RNS update - good to see the directors communicating with the investor base and not just on twitter. I wonder what the next step is though?
A couple of useful tools for checking bridge traffic/earnings...
https://narnidash.vercel.app/
https://umbrdash.netlify.app/network/bridgevolume/
There has been a very healthy increase in eth bridge volume in the last 24 hours or so...
ADVFN had a couple more pence rise at the end of day yesterday.
I'm thinking crypto, and it's related shares are perhaps due a good spell. Bought a few more OBC this morning as the Umbria Network progress is seemingly not yet reflected in the OBC sp.. The new bridges are starting to earn more steadily as traffic increases.
I've been buying a few more UMBR each week with my bridge stake earnings. UMBR staked on ETH side is paying about 15% apy at the moment.
The UMBR/ETH farm is paying 104% apy at the moment, down from a peak of 230% a few months ago, but still a very healthy return.
Devs are talking about a scheme to reinvest excess bridge liquidity elsewhere to boost earnings for umbr stakers. Looking forward to hearing more about that. Higher apy for staked UMBR will hopefully bring a higher UMBR price.
I believe its an oversold recovery Dubjon - now that the dividend has been paid.
The GM is 29th April to elect the directors - I have already voted. The announcement thereafter will be a further potential catalyst for a rise.
Yes, it does roughly tally with that holding. I wonder if this is just a rally from an oversold position at advfn, or something more?
It's the Israeli - Taumann led takeover that is going to impact AFN. I keep reading they have exciting plans for the company and have a track record, so will hold there with an open and optimistic mind.
I would like OBC to show us something profitable on its own, beyond what it holds in AFN, but with the crypto market in flux it may take a little while.
At least we have a NBV base here at OBC thanks to that holding in AFN
I won't have to fight for empty aluminium cans to sell to the scrapyard no more?
(I was watching AFN this morning (I hold a little) and saw no movement and no trades. I should've jumped in for more, but sadly the tea leaves did not tell me that.
I hold both, so not a bad day so far.
I suspect the growth here reflects the share of AFN and nothing else.
