AquaSuli - Thank you very big!
Hi daltry, having just re-listened to the CMD webcast with accompanying slides, especially at 48.40-50.00 where the good Dr mentions that with the benefit of high resolution gauges they have been able to refine their original oil/water contact point 8 meters deeper, now feeling extremely confident re the upcoming CMD in March 20, so sounds a good shout to buy more if the sp allows.
AquaSul - Thanks for your advice. I'm going to take the iPad. Unfortunately , I have other holdings; and if this HUR SP drops a lot lower I'll sell some of those other,s and buy a few more HUR. I am well overweight in HUR already - but I believe, 'what's not to like'?
Glad that I was able to amuse all you small-minded people … think how bored (and boring ) you all would have been otherwise !
I am not getting at China but they do nasty things to poor animals and I have suffered because of it.
About 5 years ago I got Swine flu ( from China )that gave me double pneumonia rushed to hospital intensive care, isolation and was hours from being dead, many mainly young fit people did die that year Swine flu mutated from the flu like symptoms to a killer. ( the year before people were having Swine flu party’s trying to catch it, so I know how nasty these things can be.
The bacterial strain I am most concerned about is the 'D' species - also known as DSPP - which is known to spread fear among HUR shareholders in particular.
I was thinking of visiting China a few years ago and read reviews of a restaurant by a river in a well-known city.
The thing that bothered me was that the staff washed the plates in the said (possibly radioactive) river.
I've put my trip there on hold indefinitely.
The bacteria is isolated but in bags and sent to China to make new pandemic viruses, everybody knows that.
In one of the online papers today there is a vid of a diner in a restaurant eating His meal a dish of soy or something and a plate with sliced tomatoes and 6 live baby mice, dipping the mice in the soy and eating them live and we wonder why all these nasty things are coming from China. ( mail or express ) they call it three squeaks I believe not a joke.
Cebo,
No, the bacteria aren't loaded onto tankers with the oil. They would make the crude go 'off'. Instead they're filtered out, dehydrated, and compressed into blocks about the size of housebricks. These are then backloaded in containers (secretly of course) and exported to cold places like Finland, where they are sold as firelighters.
daltry, enjoy your holiday, leave your Ipad behind, ignore google on your iphone, and all things being equal, look forward to seeing your holiday paid for post the March FY results and CMD

Thanks for answering my question.

BlooBird,
"When the first samples are taken from a well, do they test for any new type of previously unknown bacteria ?
I know that there is little or no oxygen down there but there are lots of bacteria which are anaerobic"
An interesting, though slightly O/T question!
It'd be hard to generalise. But yes, samples at some point in a well's life are checked for 'bugs', because bacterial action can affect various aspects of production. Especially so-called SRB's (Sulphur-reducing bacteria) which can lead to an increased percentage of H2S in a 'sour' environment. Sometimes biocides are added during the production process, and also to fluid going downhole if the field requires water-injection for pressure-support.
Only half an answer, I'm afraid, but it's a vast subject. A book on the subject which may interest you is 'The Deep Hot Biosphere' by the late Prof Thomas Gold. He proposed some fairly off-the-wall theories regarding the genesis of crude oil and the role of bacteria in the process, but which were roundly rubbished in the West, although the Russians were (still are?) interested. As a result his theories go largely ignored these days, and generally aren't taught in petrogeology courses.
Golddust ... go away!
Given that the basis for your question seems to relate to high temperatures, would any concern you have not be prevalent in ANY high temperature well ?
i.e. it is not Lancaster centric, so I can but assume you are concerned whether this is an issue in any of Hurricane’s competitors wells, and will be advising each of their BB’s accordingly ?

I meant 'tied up' not 'tide up'

Bloo - reported for spam.

You seem to be accusing me of fear mongering.
Nothing could be further than the truth … I have half my life savings tide up in HUR (unfortunately at a big loss at the moment) and I have absolute faith in Dr, T and all that HUR are trying to achieve.
I was just interested, that's all.

That was for Cebo...
Debo- you are right. This the asylum at its finest! I am off to the Canaries for a month and am wondering whether to take my IPad with me. Shall I take it for SP depression, or for such entertainment as you point out? Both make me laugh in a sectionable manner.......
Wonder where this is going. Are we now going to see some scribbles on LF alleging that the Oil is now full of thrmophilic bacteria that need special tankers and mysterious offloading port to offload the oil. - Follwed by the ussual numpties asking for an RNS to confirm if this is true. FFS

With your experience in drilling I was hoping you could answer a question for me.
When the first samples are taken from a well, do they test for any new type of previously unknown bacteria ?
I know that there is little or no oxygen down there but there are lots of bacteria which are anaerobic.
As for high temperatures, In places like yellowstone there are bacteria growing in the hotpots, which are boiling. They are called thermophile archae bacteria and can withstand the high temperatures.
