Stunning figures from JD’s results and I love the statement “we will continue with further acquisitions “
I am now convinced the hunger for brands by all the big players will lead to a sale eventually.
Fenwick also stocks FC and even Boots have 40 lines listed with glasses.
The more and more I research the wholesale side of this business I realise the future is wholesale and licensing .
It will not take much to make it dramatically profitable and understand based of the recent financial information the valuation is way off the mark .
If they have right sized the retail portfolio and closed all loss making stores we might be very surprised by the figures .
I kicked myself for not loading up on Carclo which is my other largest holding when it was 6p and now it’s 40p I am not going to make the same mistake again.
Valuation is what it is all about , I watched with with no surprise Genedrive get hammered on Friday a hugely overvalued stock and yet to my disbelief they continue to buy more shares .
You don’t give a 40% discount if a share is not 40% overvalued, it’s a shame all those goes don’t jump on board as they stand a better chance of getting their money back with French Connection.
However I have seen it all before in the dot com boom I continued to buy beaten down tech stocks instead of grossly undervalued utilities and ended up losing a fortune.
Matalan , JD Williams their products are available on multiple sites plus their own site across Europe, Uk , Australia and of course the US .
Wholesale is booming , Next , John Lewis , ASOS, Bloomingdales,Nordstrom, David Jones they are selling products on multiple sites , pure profit no overheads .
Add in the licensing from the likes of DFS the profit potential is HUGE !
Looking back pre pandemic 2019 French Connection made a £10 million loss on their retail sales but a whopping £13 million profit on wholesale sales. Now that the retail business is under control, head office costs reduced we should see a dramatic turnaround.
My share price prediction is now 78p , not long now till the 12th hold on everyone it’s going to be a very very Merry Christmas.
Multiple angles here...
1.... hmj could still be in the game.... the fall of Arcadia and others means there’s been numerous fashion houses up for grabs and some companies have bought more than one brand.
2.... with the progression of Jigsaw coming to fruition it could highlight the fact that some deals are finalising therefore this could highlight the fact that we may well be getting close to closing on a deal with one or more.
3.... if hmj don’t continue in the race, this means we’re down to 4 potential offers (I believe that still to be so) and the actions taken re jigsaw may make the remaining contenders to get on with it before they lose out.
Perhaps that because there have been numerous potentials that is the reason why it’s taking / taken this long
I don’t see this negative at all.... raising the bar in the race I see it as
Gl all as ever
Looks like HMJ are out of the running and they have just offered 28 million for Jigsaw.
So the big question is who is left and what are they willing to pay , while I appreciate it is very frustrating waiting for news but it will just drop at any time.
It might be a turning point HMJ showing their hand , so who knows any day !!!!!!
Seems to have quietened a little but at the same time we are so far still holding above 20 so it definitely feels more resilient this time.
News must be imminent, surely.
Just over a month till the interims which will look amazing , I am somewhat intrigued over what is happening with any potential bidders. If the results look great the share price will rocket as we all know it doesn’t take much , surely you would want to put the cards on the table before then.
It’s all quite bizarre??????????
Either way is positive.
Had pondered that thought too which could be an even stronger perspective of sentiment. Possibly a hint of insider knowledge and good timing to raise the bar
Looks to me like a single buyer grabbing £50k of stock, and trading within the EMS. I could be wrong, but the spread of trades suggests to me a single person, an educated guess only.
Charts are looking very favourable for an uplift to 25’s (already teased with this earlier)and quite possibly if momentum stays to double top around 30
As mentioned earlier, there’s been an increasing interest, and with this share it doesn’t take much to get a healthy boost (equally down too to be balanced) and it’s long due.
Several offers are still on the table, 2 of them being back around February and others around April...That, therefore, are 6 months ago and 4 months respectively.
One would like to think that at least one or more interested parties must be close to announcing what their intentions are.... this then means how long do we loiter before dipping our toes in before it’s too late.....?...?
There have been numerous takeovers this year across the board and some of those have been dealt with fairly swiftly, so I would suggest we should be hearing something fairly soon.
As we already know from the pre-lim results (end April), that this year has already had, and is having a healthy recovery, supported with numerous fashion houses having some great results so far. Lockdown done, people are hungry for that spending, new clothes release.... and so on.
If correct I think a TU may well be due too.
As one could say, it looks like the stars are aligning and as we’ve seen earlier, the stars can shoot up quite quickly.
Ok, I’ve rambled enough now. Gl all
whats going on?
Something’s brewing pretty soon now.
It’s been several months now with these multiple offers still on the table ( as far as we haven’t been told otherwise )
Interest is gaining
Gl all
Marks comment at the last results was forward wholesale orders were very very good , Macy’s has just announced record sales , shares surging overnight.
John Lewis, Next , David Jones in Australia all stock hundreds of lines .
Wholesale has in the past been valued at more than a £100 million for the company.
These are very exciting times , will we sell or not , I do feel if the company wasn’t going to it would have pulled out of talks by now plus Marks is now 74 with no obvious successor.
What will the price be , 50p maybe a lot more , whatever the price anyone buying in at 22p is going to make a substantial profit!!!
Its a good start to SP recovery.
Hopefully we are getting closer to a good offer..
Charts are looking refreshing. Reasonable to consider this could return to 25’s as a next test and as we know it doesn’t take much for the sp to fluctuate.
So to combine the fundamentals.... director movements as you’ve highlighted Warren, and the fact it’s been several months now since hearing anything about the multiple takeover offers, something’s gotta be announced soon wouldn’t we say?
2 and 2 certainly feels like it wants make 4 and imminently too.
Hope you are aright about nearing to the end. And with 4 bidders (i believe) it does look like the founder wants to sell. After all i dont think the bidders are going to be happy if founder is time wasting.
I have a feeling the end is very near indeed , just noticed Sarah Curren is now a Director of a newly formed company Casa di Moda along with Neil Williams all the other Directors now have other directorships. They are obviously all preparing to leave .
I will be disappointed if the takeout price is less than 50p !!
Fashion brands are doing deals all over the place , constant news stories about relationships with various retailers yet all is quiet at FC .
Could this be the calm before the storm , has there been a news leak ?
Some good price action at the end.
Hopefully this is the turning point, its long overdue.
Let's hope so.
But surely as sales increase and the brand gains momentum the price goes up?
Hopefully they might be back with an offer ?
Totally agree, if they are not interested announce it and get on with the job of building this company back up , let’s see strategy, targets, sales figures, surely that is the job of a board of directors!!!!!!
