Can someone please explain the reason why clipper are stock lending, I can only think its for shorting the cpmany, but clipper would not want to do that, so why stock lending?
Yes I noticed that!...the market is a strange beast sometimes.
An uncrossed trade of just 1 share and we are marked down......
This is one difficult stock to trade as often can't seem to get a buy or sell offer online, just NT.
Short down to 1% looking more positive!
Shorttracker still has not changed from 1.36. Why would anyone put through 8 A trades within seconds of each other for exactly the same amount? I will be back in but only when this short is closed.
Fuzz.
I checked the short tracker last night and was showing the 1.36, What worries me is the rns showing loaned shares that could be used to short the SP. I hope not, I am hoping to double up once i see the SP going up.
Hi LD. what makes you think that the shorts are closing? OMGI are still showing as 1.36%.
Looks like the shorts are closing their positions today and so i'm back in...getting this excellently run company at sub £3 a share is a bargain.
For the avoidance of doubt. If anyone doubts the power of A trades look at QFI at close. A single A trade buy at 2.87p. Value of transaction £9.76 yes you read that right manages to knock 8.01% off the value of the company. FCA WAKE UP !!!
Below is the best explanation of O and A trades I have found with thanks to Per Ardua ad Astra who posted it on the SXX page. I have been invested in CLG from £1.50 all the way to £4.65 then sold up at £4.20 when I noticed the short on CLG and the plethora of A trades. When will the FCA finally acknowledge they are failing private investors miserably allowing this manipulation to occur. CLG are a brilliant well run company and as soon as this short is closed I will be re-investing. Good luck and best wishes to all invested here.
Thank you for your explanation copied below. PAA. This explains a lot to me. For some time I have observed that you can identify any share being shorted quite simply. Look at the trades. I there are a disproportionate number of A trades the company is being shorted. I have no idea how this works but have seen the phenomenon on many occasions. Anyone can check, if a company you are invested in shows this plethora of A trades look it up on "Shorttracker" It seems weird but it in my experience true. From this I can only conclude that somehow (a mystery to me how) share prices can be manipulated through A trades. So somehow your explanation helps to expose this mystery but like something seen from the corner of your eye the real explanation o how it works still eludes me.
Good afternoon, Dagger. Technically speaking only ‘A’ trades have both a buyer and a seller because both sides of the bargain have been taken by a transacting entity (someone looking to buy or sell). ‘O’ trades on the other hand, are transacted via a market maker (or ‘retail service provider’ in contemporary parlance) that isn’t really a buyer or a seller, but stands simply to provide liquidity in the stock and they make their money on the spread. Thus such counter-parties should be considered a part of the system rather than someone wishing to buy or sell in the strictest sense. As such, if you’re going to ascribe a buy or sell determination at all - and their worth is debatable - it is only for these trades that it could be considered in any way appropriate or, indeed, relevant.
To infinity etc etc.
The world's worst investor

OMGI have been increasing its short now at 1.36%, it ties in with the stock lending date. I'm not invested here but I hold an IT that has 2.5% in CLG so I had a look at its drop. The short amount isn't high.
I was advised that if you want prevent your bank/broker from shorting your shares then the best way to do it is to put a sell limit order in place at an unrealistic level. For example for CLG you might want put a sell price in place of 500. This should preveny your holding being shorted. If I am wrong please let me know !!! rgds
Having experienced shorting with Boohoo shares early this year when the shorters wiped about 40 % of the value, how these companies get away with it, I just don't know even though it happens all the time with companies. Just hope it's a mistake
Strange notification seems to me it as been posted wrong???
Probably get a replacement next week???
I reckon they have just bought another 0.04% of stock, although a strange manipulation of the share downwards today, collecting for another big order I hope 🤞
I sincerely hope I am wrong but the only reason I know of for stock lending is for the purpose of short selling.
Who are they lending to and why?
Dan
Agreed. But I like to think I can do better than the masses !!! However the price is picking up as I type. rgds
Rugs.. have you seen the markets today? Pretty much everything is down..
Yet a glance at todays price seems to suggest otherwise....
I bought in yesterday at 3.35, thinking it was oversold ! Not my best decision.
Totally agree with you, PLT is massive online and will only get bigger
https://www.clippergroup.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/2018-Full-Year-Results-Presentation.pdf
Zara contract doubling in size for their new deliver from store initiative, Morrisons Nutmeg (Online) contract, PLT (Clippers biggest ever contract), Browns (300%) YOY growth, electrical refurbishment contract extended with Amazon in Germany, Inditex brands launching with Clicklink, Morrisons wholesale contract, Neon Sheep contract same group as rapidly growing Mountain Warehouse, Pep&Co store count increased massively & 1-2 new sites opening in Poland.....just to name a few updates for the future!
Clipper is f****** booming! Absolute no brainer! I'm buying more at this price. With Steve Parkin behind the wheel this is an absolute rocket! A large European acquisition will be next hopefully.
However I’ve taken my gain and am running off to the pub. So good luck to all who are still here and I’ve added CLG to my watch list. Looks a good company but I’ve got too much elsewhere to take a meaningful stake here. However, things change and i do hope to be back. Gla
340 at close .director buys plus broker buy rating got to be 350 min end of week .that's a nice base to build from
Joe, clipper is a winner,
