You're mostly referring to May month scenario of affairs for Cineworld credit rating pre-Cineplex purchase which never took place in the end. Cineworld has a stronger cash access and I don't feel that your constant reminders of Doom & Gloom for Cine shares are ever going to happen. Happy Days are just a few days away....Well done to shareholders strapped to their seats. Soon you'll be able to enjoy the fruits from your investments. Enjoy the great week ahead. It will get better.
Thanks for your honesty here Noggers. I averaged down Cineworld to 77p, and considered doing more but I can't really afford to (if it went wrong). Your honest assesment of how it went with your Tullow Oil shares reinforces that to me however tempting it is sometimes.
I could avarage down on this share, but i will not do, learnt my lesson on that score with TLW, never again, this share will go up in time that is unless they call it a day and go bust, which imo you can never say never.
I'm in a position at the moment where I could easily average down but have decided to hold on, like you say, don't add to the troubles, the hardest part is knowing when things are bottoming out, just when you think it has sunk to a new low and invest, it goes lower and lower lol, but I think I'm with most people on that one, you basically invest when you think it's right, then wait...
Seems as though it won’t go below 53, a good sign.
@ShorterGuy, there is that as well, all adds to the experience I guess as a newbie to share dealing, and that I shouldn't have the expectation that a holding will necessarily make money overnight each time I invest.
I'm hopeful as the market is positive. If the overall market remains positive, I believe this will be in a positive trend & may still close over 56 today.. I'm a long time holder so I can wait till the end of the year but I'll sell more than £1.. of course I'll expect it to happen ASAP
People who have shorted (about 13.9% worth) know their time is short, excuse the pun. They are too likely to get badly stung fairly soon if the price doesn't go down..
So a wee bit of trying to pull down is in their interest.
One thing this share has taught me, and that is to be patient with a share holding... lol
I personally think we’ll see 50p before we see 60p. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve rather see it rise now as I’m a longer term holder not interested in day trading but that’s what it seems like to me.
It feels like people are currently betting against recovery but I say betting against the future is a big mistake.
We all know that streaming doesn't replace Cinema, streaming fills the gap of physical media like blue-ray/dvds and traditional cable/satellite packages. In the short term people rely on it in the wake of Cinema closures but it doesn't come close to matching the experience of the big screen.
If streaming doesn't replace Cinema then what does that mean for the future of Cinema in a new post-covid world. I believe there will be consolidation within the industry, two or three large companies owning the majority of cinemas around the world. Cineworld being the 2nd largest Cinema operator in the world is well placed to be one of these surviving companies. If for whatever reason things take a negative turn then because streaming can't replace Cinemas there is a good chance another company be it tech company or movie studio will swoop in to buy. That would likely be a last resort play imo but be good for share holders. My point is other industries have a vested interest in Cinema succeeding and it's a whole industry that isn't just going to disappear just maybe change.
it's still early, I think we will see more movement towards the end of next week once more news is out from Cine about opening. I don't think they can afford another delay as it will only hammer the price down.
Share is getting pathetic at the moment, always up first thing in a morning only to see it lose at the end of the day, don't know what price this will be before they open the cinema's in the US, but if they get some more bad news before opening time then this share will have had it, just glad i am not in big time.
