Looks like a bit of a sucker rally over the past couple of days, another China hammering and this will be sub-1000p in the blink of an eye.
Hi All - Can anyone tell me if BLT plan to pay a Dividend and what its likely to be? Thanks
I was wondering why it opened up this morning - still up currently but I doubt that will last with what is going on in China. Deflation is very much back on the cards at the moment.
The Chinese stock market crashed by 8% again today. No prizes for guessing which country is BHP and RIO's main market. When China sneezes the rest of the world catches a cold.
....Rushing to put question on board before leaving my house. Think the dividend yield got mixed up with percentage drop. I would agree with anyone talking about divi cut when stock is over 6+% for too long especially when eps barerly covers it, if not at all.
driftking27 Check your calculator and I think it's fallen 40% from 1900 to present 1140. Not nice, but imo this is more secure divi than glen or aa. in this sector. also in blt, bp, rdsb
market placing some bets re whether divi levels can hold.
Are commodities the best place to invest with pending interest rates in US? I would side with absolute caution on that note... Current ield is well over 6.5% and has already fallen an astonishing 65% from 1900p level. I hold BLT, RO, BP, RDSB in commodity sector. Overweight RIO
my Jolly rubbishing of super cycle hype ...did the S Times rubbish it ten years ago? Interesting to know....
16:06 1,148.27p 260,861 £2,995,389 Buy NT 15:47 1,158.11p 255,910 £2,963,719 Buy NT 16:37 1,125.12p 100,000 £1,125,124 Buy NT 62c paid last September; ex Div was 3/9/14
Obviously the end of the Chinese bubble plus oversupply in commodities is behind this. Question is Spikeyj, having bought in how long will we have to wait for recovery? The commodity rinse repeat cycle is busted.
a bit too murky for me to tell, so still out. i did take a few bp today, but otherwise lying low, while the commodities struggle. atb.
Can always tell when there's a bargain up n coming as Spikeyj starts to appear on the board! Da Roadrunner is also on the starting blocks awaiting a chance to buy in. There seems to be a commodity stampede with everything from sugar to oil to iron ore and copper etc going down so fast even Da Roadrunner can't keep up with it. Still going down fast today.... where is the bottom ? http://finance.yahoo.com/news/commodities-slump--signifying---150552080.html#
still so, so soggy. waiting still seems the order of the day.
BHP Billiton beats expectations but disappoints with guidance: Mining giant BHP Billiton smashed through iron ore production guidance in the year ended 30 June, posting output of 233 million tonnes against a projected 230 million tonnes.
is one of my favorites...he still blithely continues commenting on stuff...as if anyone's credibility can really survive that bizarre self parody ...also love the recent book that claims statistically everyone/thing is getting better and better...as if there are sufficient statistics to ever justify such hype: lies, damn lies and all this baloney ...what's amazing is how many buy into all this cobblers ...still it makes life easier for me...since trading is all about relative ignorance
ta.
From a TA point of view the only thing that might be said for BLT is that up to now they are not quite as oversold on the RSI as GLEN, RIO or AA, but not much in it. Hopefully the divi is safer than glen and aa who both look more vulnerable to a cut. It did hit 797p in Nov 2008, and this past few weeks are the worst since then for blt.
... and of course, the japanese were going to take over the entire world. i remember that, and also 'the end of history', lol.
here or there...the sp had found support on charts? but the reality is dawning that the super cycle was deliciously daft hype ...when I worked on v large mining deals in the 1990s, the SVPs of the US majors that I dealt with regularly complained that commodities were in secular decline lol...beware the big calls is my take away...and beware the inflection point between boom and gloom
still falling, not pretty. rio falling through 2500 also? it will it hold?
wheres it going to go from here?.
i am tempted to buy back some bhp, but have a regrettable tendency to give in to temptation too quickly. any TA views on where strong floor should be? (appreciate, strong does not equal unbreakable!) thanks
...all you have to do is sit tight, wait for the junior players to go bust or stop producing and this will rebound sharply
