Turnover for years end should of course read £15.3m not £ 11m……………………………
Are you still on board ? I know you had a large holding here !………..
Update today looks encouraging as we leave the ghastly days of complete lockdown behind us. As I would expect the pub, commercial property and bio sciences leading the way. The rest recovering in line with market expectations. My one slight caveat here the problem of getting more quality pubs on board. Has been an issue from the outset. We shall see. Turnover for years end encouraging at 11m , good under present circumstances. Just to broaden matters both GC companies I and K looking good to go……….
C1 haven’t heard from you for a while!………
Hi All
Anyone please tell me why i can't sell this i try through HF but nothing to come out pls explain me many thanks
They are high end sports cars that Centurian have signed an agreement for sales, service etc.
A coup in this space.
C 1........can you elaborate please !............_
A very interesting tie up with Centurian. I’ve no doubt there is a lot going on behind the scenes with the Barkby group. I cannot wait to see what as this will be a fast growing company.
As long as it’s relevant and adds value keep posting.
Hi C 1........
Yes I see where you’re coming from.......very likely scenario..........................
I really must control my posting ......I think I’m a postaholic ! Any remedies ?
Would Barkby not be interested as an acquisition? We shall see what their plans are. My take is only a view.
Hi C 1.........thanks for that......where does Barkby or more precisely Barkby shareholders benefit here ? I have no shareholding in Present Made for CD.......can you help ?
Hi Fortitude,
CD is a director and also a shareholder. My understanding is the initial investment was returned but their holding remains the same.
In terms of the build to rent market these guys are on the money. Worth noting a comment from Richard Jackson that this has been 4 years in planning. A bit like the SleepHub and Verso Biosense perhaps ?
C 1
Forgive me , I may not have put my brain in this morning but didn’t Charles Dickson co found A C P L back in 2009 with three fellow directors ?......I have a feeling CD was paid back original stake and had left the company.......he doesn’t seem to list on the BOD...... again Apache has assets AUM in excess of 2 B......the company trades in the alternative real estate sectors .......this latest announcement being in the vertical self assembly rental market.......I should be very pleased to learn the current state of play and just as important the effect on the Barkby Group..............
Apache Capital announcing the launch of Present Made is tremendous news. Charles Dickson is behind this with 2 other original Apache Directors. Interesting they have set up about 15 companies with the PM brand.
Is this one of the opportunities they reference ? If it is then I would expect a transformation along with what’s happening in the life sciences space as well as hospitality.
You will do well in all of them
C1........yes this is the point I was underlining........the most interesting part here for me is which GC company will be the most successful.......I have toiled with this conundrum for many a year ......it remains the great unknown.....................
Fortitude, I think you know that there can be very little stock around and this will move very quickly when the company reveals more. I’m super confident as I have the utmost faith in the guys at the top. I don’t think anyone needs to worry about dilution. Look at how much of this business is held by 22 shareholders, my wife being one of them.
It may be worth noting that Barkby shares are very thinly traded with the Dickson family owning the largest amount by far with the rest in the hands of other large private holders ... ...I just mention this for so far we have not experienced any product that has the power to disrupt the market.......the sleep hub and fertility products certainly do and will .......both are being marketed at rapid pace.......the nett result of seriously good news will be very dramatic ! ........I say this in no way to pump the share rather just to make investors aware........C1 ..you will know this better than anyone.....................................
Totally agree. I think many investors in this need to look past the pubs, A small part of the pie and not the reason why I have added diligently over the last year. We await.
Hi Guys,
Personally, I think that trade, particularly in the pubs, will be disrupted for some time yet to come. Though we’re all hoping for indoor trade to resume on the 17th., in practice, trading in the next few months rather depends on the Covid situation, & whether people holiday here, or brave it, & go abroad. I think that the Christmas trade will be a big indicator for not only Barkby, but pubs in general, of how this is all holding up. The last big Influenza epidemic, lasted over 3 years, 1918-21, & though we, through much better medical provision this time, have been able to combat Covid, I think that the effects of Covid, could be around for sometime to come. However, having said all that, I fully believe that this is still, very much, a company worth investing in, & I shall be continuing to add to my holding throughout this year. BW’s to you all. H.
Hi TBTW........
Interesting post.......I don't read too much into figures having just opened .......what is important is the calibre of management and this is the best.......the companies declared aim is expansion of this sector.........it will take time to get the hospitality business back into top gear after such a long period of lockdown.... ........
Hi all. Sending best wishes to everyone. I’ve left my, obviously very small compared to far more You experienced folks, investment in the Barkby group and found this to be very positive. I have hope that even though I’m totally unqualified to comment, that I might get a little profit in my investment. My only concern is that as someone whom lives in lechlade and knows staff and some management at the pubs here I know the last 3 weeks have been a disaster. For example on the first day of re opening we had lunch at the 5Alls and the staff were telling us they had 20 or so booked and seemed thrilled whilst the bell in Langford 5 mins away was fully booked with 180 covers booked and it’s half the size. The fairford hotel and the Kelmscott pub have been deadly quiet as well when I’ve visited so i am not sure the bullish reports on the pubs is accurate, and I say that as someone who has been to each one since reopening.
Half year very encouraging but now need to get the Balance Sheet sorted. Have a good we.
Looking forward to further output from Barkby with the results this week and the AGM next.
Correction........... of course for reserve read preserve........using my old computer yesterday!..........
