Snowking I agree that we should have acted far sooner and lives have been lost unnecessarily as a result. I’m also massively hopeful for odx future.
What I was trying to say was that fast forward 2, 3 years unless we want to still be social distancing then herd immunity through vaccination or percentage of people exposed is the only way.
Track and trace through antigen testing will not work imo. Half the country will have been told to isolate in pretty short time. Add antibody testing to that and it’ll be much more effective.
Purely , the comment herd immunity was mentioned by Whitty and Van tam early on and that has recognised to have been a farce and a reason the uk has got it totally wrong . You can look to herd immunity when no vaccine if the virus has a low death rate . This is where they got it wrong. They were saying 1% death rate and we should get 20,000 deaths . Where are we know 60,000 deaths and climbing in first wave after only three months . It has a higher hospital death rate than Ebola at 30% .
They totally messed up . We have the worse death rate in the 19 European nations for excess deaths .
We are currently seeing a problem with hospital outbreaks and an interesting thought for antibody tests is this . When you screen people and you get a positive covid virus test , how do you know that this is not dead virus dna being detected , so here cones the need for antibody testing .
I think odx will sell there tests in the hundreds of millions over the next couple of years and also when a vaccine cones along . It will be needed by almost everyone
We went late and never really locked down. Essential was stretched to beyond a joke. Proper lockdown and a few weeks earlier we’d have less dead and probably be out now. I’d doubt our death toll will ever constitute success.
With something like this, for the UK, herd immunity is the only way out, whether through vaccine or everyone getting it.
That was obvious right from the very start whether it was said out loud or not.
I’m looking forward to next week but I won’t throw my toys out of the pram if we don’t get news.
What is exciting me more than UK sales is the potential for this to become a world leading test. If it is as good as we all hope it is the real money will be in selling the manufacturing process abroad.
If you still haven't figured out the gov it's aimingt for a herd immunity.
Of course if and when this is all approved, Omega will not be able to manufacture all these kits on their own. Other manufacturers will no doubt be brought in to ramp up production. But they will have to produce and manufacture the government approved RTC Rapid test kits . If they want to produce their own kits either the gov will not approve or they may have to go through the testing and approval process, we'll see. Can't believe the Gov would ease lockdown if they didn't have a proper rapid testing solution in place. I'm expecting big things this week otherwise the gov are making themselves look more and more incompetent by the minute.
