Certainly it would sustain a daily VIC FALLS JOBERG as these flights are chocca all the time, the HRE JNB not so but still @ around 90% load, VFA JNB nearer 98%
Exactly, with a flight time of 1hour 40 mins between those two cities, we could comfortably accommodate 3 rotations per day, even on the days we fly to VFA. The aircraft is there and presumably crews are available, so why not fully utilise them?
An additional rotation would also increase flying time options of potential travelers and and make fastjet a more attractive airline to select for flying that route, and therefore increase passenger numbers.
surely with the smaller aircraft we should be doing 3 rotations daily as not so long ago we did 2 rotations with an A319
Not sure how recent seems to be for the wet lease planes to Fastjet
As long as there is only one return flight from DAR-MBI and JRO daily, I just cannot see passenger numbers rise on those routes.
For cities approx. an hour apart by air, business travellers mostly want to travel outwards in the morning, conduct their business and return that evening. Using fastjet on either of those routes, at the moment, would require an overnight stay.
The DAR-MWZ route even with only two flights per day just does not seem busy. At the moment the whole situation is rather disappointing, and I would agree with Fjetcrazy, that 'the jury is out', as regards fastjet's future.
Yes you did not imagine it, earlier this week it showed the original schedule for Tanzania reverting back I believe on 2nd July, it has since changed to now revert back on 2nd October, which I believe is when it was said we would have the new smaller Aircraft.

Unfortunately that is not the case we seem to be struggling to fill 50% of our previous capacity,it appears as though we lost all the civil servants on Government business to the state owned airline
I really dont see how we can develop the business with Africa unable to move on from their past
You only have to think back to how a canx flight used to lead to almost full or sold out flights , the market has definitely changed and ATCL is having an impact in DAR.
Buxton,what concerns me is that the loads are wide open despite the reduced schedule, Zimbabwe is a very different story but then that's a 49 seater.
In fairness he stated from the onset that the first year was all about stabilization and stopping the cash burn .He has been ruthless with the fleet and routes and a complete new team
Lets hope he is filling the planes we have that are still flying .
The difficult part is how and where he expands this business profitably

"abysmal execution of the strategy" seriously ? Nico's not even been in the job a year, solenta deal, £23m placing new quality team, HQ move..... This would be an x parrot were it not for him for sure.
Fartherelmer, good post and I would agree in the knowledge that I don't know what Nico inherited execution of strategy has indeed been a shocker, ( who to blame?) we don't know if the schedule was halved because of the market or the early abrupt ending of Bulgaria lease, if it was because of the former then that in my book shows he was willing to having cut the fat off the bone taken the meat then all that was left was the marrow.
I don't believe we have missed the market as Rainbow in Zimbabwe are still yet to appear ,and ATCL was always going to happen under Magufuli
I agree at the moment there is no market.
However, the idea is still sound - the problem to date (now also including Nico and Co) is that the execution of the strategy has been abysmal, to say the least.
If (and when?) they can begin to show deliver of a coherent strategy AND some good and encouraging financial results (something that has not happened yet and IMHO will not happen this year either) then a market may actually begin to form for the shares.
My big fear is that the opportunity for fastjet has been missed as the market / competition has improved and the regulatory environment changed in a negative way for them.

There is no market for these shares....look at the number of trades and some of the
pathetically low trade amounts ....like the students are gambling their money on this one ...
Marksman, I am guessing it will be two E190,s as the current A319 is crewed by Tanzanian pilots and on this basis I can not imagine they will be letting our pilots go ,so hopefully they will be on a conversion course in addition to the new recruits.

Something went wrong on above flight tonight as she turned back just before Mwanza and headed back to DAR where FJD LANDED after two hours 40 mins of flight, be interesting to see what happens in the morning, but for now we have it seems DAR MWANZA DAR passengers stranded.
