* bank drawdown
Thanks for the info Wyn. Wasn’t told this at Uni!
Would like to believe in business ethics and accounting practices and that CEOs should always work in the best interest of shareholders ( anyone who buys shares after the initial funding - are buying the exact same contribution into the business that was originally provided for by those particular shares at that time) - so in theory one should have rights.
One would have thought it a mandatory duty for directors to tell the whole truth to shareholders at presentations etc - which are their to update current shareholders.
How in March presentation could CC and TP tell shareholders that all was moving forwards with no need for capital raise or selling the company etc and this year they would spend 1.6 million leaving 3 million cash for next year —- only to be updated recently with such dire circumstances.
A shareholder often thinks time will fix things and so will patiently sit out the bad spells - but what have this bod done? End of June 1.5 million cash left with 900K back drawdown ( seemingly to pay for stock) — what choice does such a situation leave longer term investors with?
DGU, Thats simply not the way it works.
If you are that keen on it then may I suggest that buying shares is not for you.
(And even if retail investors did band together, then who's view would be put to the BoD? Are you going to have postal/email votes every time you think the BoD is doing the wrong thing? And how do you know you are right and the BoD are wrong?
Short of illegal wrong doing there is no "accountability".
What have you as a shareholder ever done for EVE? (They never received any of your money when you bought.)
Did you not understand the risks of buying shares? (Investments can go down as well as up..?)
The only rule is... NEVER bet more that you can COMFORTABLY afford to lose. Do that and all the frustration melts away.
Perhaps day traders could be described like such but genuine long term shareholders who believe in the company and its aims are real shareholders?
What may benefit is for real shareholders in any company to try and form a board of real shareholders- and by combining their holdings under one umbrella group would have some influence to remove directors etc if it is thought they were going wrong? ‘Some accountability’
Unfortunately DGU, we will never know if it was poor management or unforseen events.
I think and forgive me if this sounds a bit patronising, but only based on your newness to this game, You (me, whoever,) are not shareholders in the company's they buy into.
Yes, I know on paper we are, but we are not in any form of reality. We have no influence and the company has no interest in us either.
Larger institutional shareholders are a different kettle of fish, but never kid yourself you are anything to do with the company of the shares you own.
All we are, are parasites hoping to cash in on the hard work of the employee's of the said company.
The situation now seems to be as you say Wyn; the point is the situation should never have become like this —- how can management justify they have done a good job that their running of EVE has been always with the shareholders best interests at the forefront of there decisions?
DGU, its all or nothing. if a bid comes min, happy days, if it doesn't then for shareholders its curtains.
Its been that way since they put the company up for sale.
Their performance right now is I think, irrelevant to a potential buyer.
Thanks D-G. Was really trying not to disrupt your hols.
But I now have to say I have fears we as shareholders have been manipulated! It may acts finish me off and some of my acquaintances ( like yourself) have recommended EVE too have had enough !
CC & co have been accepting the big salaries; my first pay was £35 a week !
Evening dontgive. I’m surprised at the high % of negative reviews. I hope things aren’t falling apart. But increase in site traffic is reassuring. We wait on FSP news so nothing really changed.
It’s only 4 or 5 months since CC offered mattresses to Ukrainian refugees so I am still of the opinion that it’s the world situation that’s mainly to blame but that cc could’ve been better prepared for tough times. I’ve always seen eve as higher risk but I’d thought they’d have enough cash to get through. I don’t personally feel particularly misled though I can see people could take that pov.
(Holiday reading is Sir Sandy Woodward’s book on heading the task force to retake the Falklands. I’d recommend it highly; it’s been out for many years and he passed a while ago.)
Does anyone think longer term shareholders have been deliberately mislead here?
Any thoughts D—G; but don’t let EVE spoil your holiday. EVE announcements have wrecked me!
EVe Sleep - feels more like EVE Nightmare to me!
CC & Co seem to have taken EVE into disastrous terrain?
How?

When at 5.5 p a share and 8.3 million million cash this by all accounts should have been a safe share and save company to invest in — what accountability should the experienced board of directors have had?
